Year 4 Poetry

In Year 4 we have been looking at a poem called 'The Day's Eye' by Pie Corbett. It is about the sun and how it changes throughout the day.

In Literacy we created pictures of each verse to show how the sun changes.

The sun rises,
Surprises the weary night.
like a sudden joke,
Daylight .

The sun gleams,
Beams kindly heat
like an oven’s plate,
Streets sweat.

The sun sneaks,
Peeks through musty cloud,
like a sly thief,
alone in a crowd.

The sun sleeps,
Creeps into cool shade,
like a honey cat.
Shadows fade.

The sun slips,
Dips into the night,
like a closing mouth,
Swallowing light.

Pie Corbett

Year 4 then performed the poem.
Can you work out which verse these pairs are performing?

Year 4 and Chembakolli

Year 4 are studying Chembakolli a Village in India. We have been doing lots of research to find out about the country and also the village. As part of our homework we did some research about India.

The children created some wonderful work. The projects were presented in lots of different ways including posters, booklets and PowerPoint presentations.

The projects are still on display outside Year 4, so you can take a look.

Year 4 have also been very lucky to have been chosen as the Spotlight school for the Chembakolli website for this half term. (http://www.chembakolli.com/)

As part of the project we will be communicating with children in Chembakolli through a blog and also the hot seat children will be answering questions about our country and where we live in Fulham.

We will be adding our slide show soon! Watch this space!
